Solution Partnerships

FPA cannot be implemented without Solution Partnerships

To successfully implement Financial Predictive Analytics (FPA) requires two distinct types of domain expertise (at least);

  1. Predictive Analytics &
  2. Data Management (Data Warehouse & Information Management);
    - Particularly historicized time series data.

These two types of domain expertise do not in general reside conveniently in the same place. Therefore in pursuit of excellence in FPA; UL has a focus on Solution Partnerships.

Solution Partnerships bring Best Practice to the customer by combining domain expertise where it is necessary. They allow teams to Re-Think in a multidisciplinary unit; Rethink boundaries and Rethink innovation.

The key benefits of Solution Partnerships are;-

  • The project team can deploy trusted and industry-relevant solutions rapidly,
  • They can shape industry solutions & product roadmaps of each software vendor and
  • They can Leverage Service Partners’ industry expertise.

Solution Partnerships facilitate

  • Reduced integration risk by co-defining enterprise services in an SOA environment,
  • Lower integration costs by adherence to common industry standards and
  • Enhance the value of existing investments with the co-innovation of the partners.

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is the nirvana to which all Information Systems projects are encouraged by the vendors and consultants to asymptotically approach. It may not be the case that your project this year will reach quite that level of bliss. However we certainly have to think about Solution Architecture in SOA terms now; effectively “we are all service oriented, today”. A multidisciplinary team predicated upon Solution Partnerships can temper the enthusiasm for nirvana with some experienced pragmatism, harvesting value from the methodological cannon of recent years but integrating that with the latest ideas in software engineering.

SOA requires technical standards to achieve cost-effective and efficient consumption, composition, and maintenance of services and requires business standards to define the precise semantics of services. Open standards can be implemented well by software whether they involve open source software of commercial software. Enterprise software is increasingly commoditized. It is in challenges such as FPA where multidisciplinary teams managed in terms of open IT standards and open standards of Project Management are the only way to cost effectively achieve industrial strength solutions. UL has the experience and expertise to make such solutions happen predicated upon appropriate Solution Partnerships.

Collaborative Innovation is the top priority for CEOs and Chief Information Officers today; it facilitates the harvesting of intellectual property whether from the academic community or from commercial partnerships and thus simultaneously accelerates the innovation of software engineering to lower cost and improve quality. UL is positioned to create Solution Partnerships for our clients with both the academic community and commercial software development enterprises, we can further traction that process through our Resourcing arm and our expertise in vetting the appropriateness of specific resource to the project needs of our clients.

If we can assist you in the development of a Solution Partnership to meet a particular need, whether you are a customer, vendor or consulting, please do not hesitate to contact us.
